Brotherhood Ministry

Leader: Barry McCrary

The aim of the Men Ministry is to provide a Bible-based and Christ-centered fellowship that will promote teaching, training, discipleship, worship, commitment and nurturing for spiritual life of the men within Greater Young Zion Baptist Church.

The ministry will also build relationships, encourages and supports the men of GYZ., while offering prayers on behalf of the church, its leadership, membership and community. We encourage the men to exalt Jesus Christ and to develop Christ-like maturity and equip them for the ministry of the church.

Christian Education Ministry

Leader:  Rev. A.J. Saunders

Sunday School will increase and develop the spiritual growth of everyone. This ministry is the heart of the divine mission of our church and its focus is to oversee the
teaching ministry of our church to help others to live for Christ.

The ministry is to build, enhance, promote, the participation of each member in the teaching ministry of the church and oversees the Sunday School, Children Church, Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School and all teaching directives in our ministry.

Classes for all age groups are offered each Sunday morning at 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Youth Church Sunday School is held at 11 a.m. at our Forsythe Street Location.

Nursery: Age 1 to 4     1st Grade: Age 5 – 6   Primary: Age 7 – 9

Junior High: Age 11 – 14   High School: Age 15 – 17   Young Adult: Age 18 – 25

Adult: Age 26 & older

Women’s Ministry

 Leader: Eula Clinton

“…develops the spiritual enrichment of women via an annual workshop. Increases female involvement and participation in church ministry, and seeks more outreach of women to women of all ages.

Exposes women of the church to the relevance of God’s Word for their individual lives. Through this ministry individuals learn that God’s Word is not boring or out-of-date. Develops growth and maturity in one’s personal spiritual life. Instills a sense of discipleship, fellowship, worship, and community service via participation in community and church projects.

Drama Ministry

 Leader: Winona Hatcher

The Drama Ministry performs Biblical stories and everyday life issues which uplift the saints and the Lord via the dramatic arts. Promotes the talents of youth and adults through artistic performances while serving as representatives of Christ. Members are able to create a bridge of understanding between people with other beliefs, customs and ideas through the Performing Arts Ministries throughout the entire church body.
